Based around abstract art, this lesson has been taught with great success to EYFS/Year 1 children, Year 4 children and Year 6 children with fantastic results in every year group. Children access and interpret the work on different levels, it is differentiated by outcome to an extent, although differentiation suggestions are included. Whichever age undertakes this work the result has always been beautiful large scale pieces of art that look incredible when framed or just mounted on display. This lesson involves children using their imagination and creativity whilst simultaneously enhancing their technical, observation and replication skills. The lesson is designed so that children collaborate in groups to slowly and precisely create large scale work but the lesson can be easily adapted for pair or individual work. Allow 2 hours for completion. Contains easy to understand teachers' notes and 7 full colour art images for the lesson.
“Creativity is as important now in education as literacy and we should treat it with the same status.” Sir Ken Robinson - TED Talk.
This book has been designed to stimulate a wealth of creative thought processes in children of all ages and key stages, whilst also being engaging and highly enjoyable to complete. Designed in the style of our calming mindfulness colouring books but with influences from the anti-colouring books also.
Contains 41 thought-provoking activities and fun artistic challenges that progressively get more creatively challenging as the book progresses, plus a bonus challenge that is not available in the physical book (which is available from Amazon) plus Teachers' notes and a children's introduction that is full of creativity enhancing ideas.
Uses include: for a golden time group, wet play or lunch activities, after school clubs, SEN interventions, gifted and talented pupils (as the creative potential is open ended), starters, art lessons, time filling, explicit creativity enhancing lessons (think Edward de Bono) or just incredibly useful to have "up your sleeve" as a highly educational set of printable activities that requires deeper thinking than "just" colouring in.
